Kimbo Slice vs Roy Nelson next Wednesday
For everyone who ridiculed, dogged, and bashed street fight king Kimbo Slice, the time has come for Kimbo to prove you wrong. Slice will get his chance on next week’s edition of The Ultimate Fighter. His opponent will be Roy Nelson.
Nelson is a veteran with 17 fights under his belt and was the IFL’s final heavyweight champion. Coming into the house, he is on a two fight losing streak. Getting KO’d by Andrei Arlovski and losing a decision to Jeff Monson. Nelson is not to be underestimated, but his gas tank has always been suspect.
Slice does not have the MMA experience but if anyone thinks he is intimidated by the ‘big fight’ he has proven he can go three rounds and has the power as well as explosiveness to stop his opponent.
Match up wise; this is good for both men because while Nelson may not be as uncomfortable on the ground as Slice, I expect this fight to be contended on their feet. The key to win for Slice in this fight will be to make Nelson work for everything he gets and hope Nelson gasses first.
If Slice can do that he will have a chance. If not, it could be a long two rounds.
Kimbo, in my opinion may have a slight advantage when it comes to technique with his hands. Now, do not get me wrong, Slice is no Anderson Silva, but Nelson has known to get tired and sloppy. Add that to the fact that he doe not seem to be interested in what Team Evans coaches have to say and this may be an opportunity for Slice to go 2-0 against the UFC odds.
Slice won the first battle the second it was reported that the ratings were over 4 million for the Ultimate Fighter Season 10 premier.
At the end of the day my common sense says to go with Roy Nelson, but something tells me that Slice may squeak out a win in this one.
