Michael Oher Family Story Portrayed In “The Blind Side”

Michael Oher Family Story has been depicted in the sports/drama movie ‘The blind side’ which released yesterday in theaters all across. The movie, which is roughly based on the life of Michael Oher and his life is directed by John Lee Hancock, who is also the writer for the movie. Michael Oher’s book has been the talk of town, specially with its adaptation as the movie. An extract of the book was also published under “The Ballad Of Big Mike”, in the NY Times Magazine.
The real Michael Oher Family Story, has been beautifully portrayed in the movie’s screenplay, and has Quinton Aaron playing the role of Michael Oher. His parents, the Tuohy’s have been played out by Sandra ‘Miss Congeniality’ Bullock and Tim McGraw. Another USP of the movie, lies in the appearances of the coaches like Ed Orgeron, Nick Saban, Lou Holtz etc.

It’s Baltimore, not Blatimore.
One of the things that Michael can do is to talk to kids that are in similar or the same circumstances that he found himself him during his childhood and teen years. I know that Big Mike would encourage them no matter what he told them. He has such an inspiring story. The hard work and dedication he put into becoming one of the best football players taken in the NFL draft is only dwarfed, in my opinion, by his achieving his academics goal of graduating college! I know people see him as a successful pro player but I also see him as someone who climbed huge academic mountains to get to where he is today as well! Good luck Michael Oher in all that you do!
Just saw the movie last night and had to keep reminding myself that Sandra Bullock is playing a real person. Otherwise I was thinking “she got me again”. I get tired of her heroics in movies. I would like to read more about Leigh Anne Tuohy to see if she was as strong a character as portrayed by Bullock. If she was, good for her. If she wasn’t, shame on Sandra Bullock for “getting me again”.

The best 2009 movie is “The Blind Side”, it is an Excellent movie that you must see for yourself. I had the opportunity to see this movie and it has inspired me to write an article about it because I am A Diamond in the Rough, too. My life was no where similar to Mr. Michael Oher. However, I can relate to the movie. I imagine a lot of people did not become abreast with who Mr. Oher was until they seen the movie “The Blind Side”. I was one of those people who did not know that Mr. Oher even existed until I seen the movie “The Blind Side”. It was a very heart catching movie, which made me realize how blessed that I was growing up as a child. Sometimes we think that we are the only ones in life having it hard until you see a movie like “The Blind Side”. I could not believe what I seen in the movie because today in society there are so many controversial black and white issues on-going everyday. I pray that every American go out and purchase the movie because it is the solution to a lot of children problems in the same similar situation of Mr. Oher. What really amazed me was how an Irish Family, the Tuohy’s found it in their heart’s to go above and beyond their call and duty to help Mr. Oher discover his potentials. Their son was a kid who displayed more compassion, love, understanding, logic and empathy than what adults show towards one another in the world. I can’t leave out their daughter because she was not ashamed to let her friends know that Mr. Oher was her family. Only if we all had the same characteristics of the Tuohy family then there would not be so many black and white issues in the United States of America. I frequently listen to the news media talk about black and white problems and they never figure out any solutions. The Tuohy family found a solution to the problem and it did not take a rocket scientist to figure it out either. I have to give the Tuohy’s their props, they have made a major impact in the black community. I have never heard of anyone wealthy in the black community to do what the Tuhoy’s did for Mr. Oher. It takes a philanthropist to do what they did, which we lack the most in society. Most people are too busy trying to make a name for themselves. They fail to realize that only what you do for Christ will last. And not to mention that people are just right out selfish and greedy. How many people can honestly say that they would allow a complete stranger to come live in their home ? Some of us will barely let our own family member come visit. So, there are not many of us who would take in a stranger because we judge people before we even take out the time to get to know them. And the religious people famous statement is first let me pray about this when all they have to do is be lead by the spirit. We even have the audacity to look down on others because we have attained a few material things in life. Our inner circle are the only ones that we help and no-one from the outside of society and church. There are a lot of young talented and gifted black youths all across the country, but there are not enough Tuohy families in society. A child does not ask to come into the world, so it is not their fault that they need the help of a Tuohy family. On a daily basis young talented and gifted black youths lives are destroyed because no-one will step up to the plate to help them discover their potentials. By the way, if you did not know, it does takes a village to raise a child and the most important thing that we must remember is these are all of our children. Unfortunately, everyone in society does not look at it this way, so they only do for their children. Jealousy and enviousness are other reasons why people will not come forth in society to help others. Some people do not want to see you do better than them and their children. Alot of people just suppress others because they do not want them to discover their potentials. At a young age, I realized that the world was a dog eat dog world. However, after seeing The Blind Side, it makes me more of a believer. I challenge the most all of the wealthy black Americans in every state to go into the inner city neighborhoods and you will find an abundance of young talented and gifted black youths. Would you help at least one of these youths to help them discover their potentials like the Tuohy’s did ? I guaranteed you , if you did there would not be so many teenage, dropouts, pregnancies, aids and hiv cases, deceased youths, crimes, home invasions, gangs, violence, prisoners and drug dealers. Our children are the next generation, so if we do not start saving their lives we can expect to see a continuance of the destabilization in our young talented and gifted black youths. The Tuohy family have proven that we can save the lives of young talented and gifted black youths, if we learn to stop looking down on others and keeping our noses out of the air. It is time for wealthy black and white Americans to extend the olive branch, if you want to help make this world a better and safer place to live. A mind is a terrible thing to waste and knowledge is power, so lets help our young talented and gifted black youths discover their potentials like the Tuohy’s did to help Mr. Oher discover his.
